Here we have another fairly rare beast,...... actually the second one that we've had. A 3 1/2" gauge Lynton & Barnstaple 2-6-2 Manning Wardle 'Yeo'. A massive model in 3 /2" gauge this, the full size being a very large loco on 1' 11 1/2" and therefore scaling down to what is technically known as 'a bit of a beast'! The last one of these that we had in earlier in the year was also Yeo, but modelled in it's later form. This one is more or less as built in 1897.
This model has been on display for the last 10 years if the previous owner's dining room, so we are giving it the usual re-commissioning treatment so that you should just be able to throw a fire into her and play. The boiler is coper and silver soldered,..... and of course as with all our 'finished' models, it can be given a full fresh hydraulic boiler test and a new steam test.
There is an injector fitted, as well as an axle pump between the frames with a footplate mounted bypass valve. There is also a hand pump hidden in the left hand tank. Lubrication is displacement, with a large tank in the back corner of the cab, and a sight feed glass on the footplate. There is also a steam brake, and ontop of that there are vacuum brakes fitted too! The machining work is pretty goo on the model, and certainly the bottom end is reasonably tight still, the model having not, it seems been used particularly much.
